WCET (Whole Classroom Ensemble Tuition)
With WCET we teach music in a whole classroom setting covering a ‘broad and balanced curriculum’. What is different? We adapt the curriculum to include music that is current and relevant. Though older songs will be incorporated to cover music history and genre appreciation, within a couple of weeks the class will be playing songs such ‘Uptown Funk’ whilst learning the components that are needed to start their musical journey.
Our curriculum is based on guidance from The National Plan of Music Education.
CPD (Continuous Professional Development)
Our staff training sessions are focussed around developing school staff and their ability to provide current, inspiring and socially relevant music education to the highest standard. As a result, developing staff confidence in delivering modern music methods rather than the too often taught dated and irrelevant content.
Workshops/Project Assistance/Events
We provide workshops that are tailor made to schools requirements. Should schools be working with children on particular projects (Young Voices for example) and need music specialists to assist in creating music based education to support this, we can provide, advise and help to integrate these skills in to any project. Alternatively, if schools would simply like students to benefit from creative lesson such as a fun workshop we are able to create a program to support this.
Afterschool Activities/Clubs
We offer a range of after school activities, from choirs, bands and small instrumental groups. We work with schools to provide relevant and creative sessions that are suited to their desired requirements, rather than a ‘one session suits all’ approach. If schools are not looking for a specific activity, we can create a program that is based around our companies ‘alternative approach to music ed’.
Little Rock (age 4-6)
Little Rock has been created over the last 3 years for The Music Neighbourhood and The Marshalls School of Music to start young children on their journey to become rockstars.
In Little Rock the children focus on their strengths which (at this age) is their mechanical skills. It has been proven that children in their early years struggle to learn an instrument because their motor skills need more time to develop so, they tend to get ‘stuck’ with singing.
Little Rock focuses on ‘what children can do’ to successfully learn skills to play instruments and instead, centres around rhythm, performance and colours learning through unique songs written specifically for the program. It really is amazing and has proven success in instrumental learning and confidence, as well a creating performers at a young age.

This program does not exist anywhere else but with The Music Neighbourhood!
Big Rock (age 7-11)
Our Big Rock program is the natural progression program from Little Rock. Students are part of their very own band and learn songs that are chosen as a band, and taught to their specific abilities. Big Rock is taught as an instrument specific program, in that there are designated drummers, guitarists etc unlike Little Rock where children play a variety of rock instruments. Big Rock groups are a maximum of 10 musicians, and again will learn performance and supported in confidence building and instrument skills.
1:1 Lessons
As a company we teach and develop rock and pop instruments that are current and relevant to todays young musicians and inspired by what children see in the popular music industry. 1:1 lessons are a great way for students who want to specialise and develop in a particular instrument, and as we do not offer lessons of less than 30 minutes students get the quality time for learning required to advance and grasp not only playing an instrument but the theory that underpins this.
All of our tutors have a minimum of grade 8 in their chosen instrument, have a music performance/production university degree and a minimum of 2 years tutoring experience. As well as Safeguarding training and our company training in working with children with SEN. We also expect all of our tutors to be working musicians, in that they are a part of a band or performing as a solo artist. Our company ethos is to inspire our students and our tutors are a mentor in to 1:1 students development.
